This event will occur in Kimbrough Concert Hall.
About the event
This program is called “Exhibition” because all of the pieces are showy in some way. Vexilla Regis Prodeunt sets a Gregorian chant melody in an over-the-top way that only Liszt can. Haydn’s sonata no. 6, one of his earliest, is full of ornamentations, seemingly everywhere. The namesake Mussorgsky work, Pictures at an Exhibition, is an iconic display of pianistic fireworks, as the performer tries to portray the emotions of 10 different paintings.
