SUMMARY:2021 ASWSU Inclusion Conference
LOCATION:Online
DESCRIPTION:Who holds the power, who has the privilege and what is inequity? Ever heard white privilege and thought, “I am not privileged because of *XYZ*?” Being privileged does not mean that you did not face your own financial and interpersonal struggles. It means that your skin color or sexual orientation did not make it more difficult for you to get to where you are and receive the resources you needed to get ahead. We will be taking an in-depth look at what power, privilege and inequity means and how to have difficult conversations about privilege and being an ally while being open to actively learning more.\n\nASWSU Global is proud to present the 2021 ASWSU Inclusion Conference! For the first time, student leaders across 7 WSU campuses are coming together to promote and further our commitment to make WSU an inclusive and welcoming place for ALL students. Keynote speakers Rashida Willard and Nathan Webster are WA locals who champion diversity efforts at Clark College and beyond! Rashida Willard is the Vice President of Clark Colleges' Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She has organized and presented various DEI trainings at Clark and is a fervent advocate of cultural competency and how it can be used to improve the college experience for students of color. Nathan Webster runs his own business as brand marketer and provides support to PoC-owned businesses, especially advocating for businesses owned and run by women of color while also teaching marketing and business at Clark. We look forward to seeing you there and being apart of what will soon become an ASWSU annual event!\n\n
