About the event

The next session of the Symposium Series is right around the corner on Tuesday, December 8th. We have partnered with a team of experts to speak about a new program focused on the state’s needs for further education and workforce development in materials science. We will have virtual breakout rooms between our main speakers where attendees can participate in an exercise related to the session material as well as network with others.

SPEAKERS:

Mel Cossette has over 25 years of experience in manufacturing education. She has developed technician training programs for industry and educational institutions and currently serves as the Executive Director and Principal Investigator for MatEdU, providing instructional resources for materials science technology education.

Ann Avary is the director of the NW Center of Excellence for Marine Manufacturing & Technology. She works directly with the marine industries of Washington State, standards organizations, state and national partners, to introduce industry-based technologies, processes and best practices in the classroom and lab to support the marine industries workforce.

Patricia Townsend is a Regional Extension Specialist for WSU. She works with stakeholders throughout the Pacific Northwest on issues related to green infrastructure, renewable energy, sustainability, and ecosystem services.
