SUMMARY:BLACK HISTORY MONTH Part 2: History in Motion
LOCATION:Online
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 3-part Black History Month virtual series.\n\nSeries theme: Beyond the Headlines: Human Stories and Lived History\n\nSeries goal: Explore people, moments, and cultural traditions in an intentional, reflective, humanized way—so they aren’t reduced to dates, statistics, or names in a textbook.\n\nIn this second part of the series, we will revisit pivotal moments in Black history through the people who lived them—highlighting choices, risks, organizing, and community strategy. The Montgomery Bus Boycott is one of our featured case studies that will center key individuals such as Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks to explore how movements are built, sustained, and remembered. Rather than presenting history as inevitable, we will examine the human realities behind change: fear and conviction, disagreement and solidarity, and the everyday sacrifices that made collective action possible.
