SUMMARY:Colloquium: Physics & Astronomy – Dr. Brian Saam
LOCATION:Webster Physical Science Building, Pullman, WA 99163
DESCRIPTION:The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites all to a colloquium featuring Dr. Brian Saam, Chair of Physics & Astronomy. Dr. Saam will present their talk, “State of the Department.”\n\nMeet for refreshments before the lecture at 3:45 – 4:10 p.m. in the foyer on floor G above the lecture hall.\n\nAbstract:\n\nThe whole department--faculty, staff, students, and anyone else sharing in our common purpose--is invited to help kick-off the AY 2019-20 colloquium series with the department chair's annual report and charge for the coming year. This will not be a technical physics/astronomy colloquium but rather a review of the past year's highlights, an introduction to new members of the department, and a brief statement of the chair's outlook for the coming academic year and beyond. Come hear about plans to celebrate our 100th anniversary as a department, host the Conference on Undergraduate Women in Physics, and expand the size of the faculty by more than 10%! As always, there will be time for questions, concerns, and heckling.\n\n
