DESCRIPTION:Please join your extension program team for this month's free webinar Cultivating Connections: SNAP-Ed Learning Collaborative to Improve Nutrition Education for People in Recovery on June 18th from noon until 1pm PST. Registration is required and can be completed at https://www.nwrotac.org/upcoming-trainings\n\nNutrition education for people experiencing and recovering from substance use disorder requires understanding of the specific nutritional needs and considerations of the population; the ability to practice trauma informed care; and skills in self-regulation to support positive and caring relationships that foster trust between participants and educators. SNAP-Ed is in a unique position to provide this education and programming; however, further learning and skill development is needed. This presentation will share information on a project carried out by WA SNAP-Ed, in partnership with Leah’s Pantry in California to provide staff training through a Learning Collaborative model and the adaptation of a popular nutrition education curriculum to be used with this audience.\n\nSpeakers Jen Moss and Kristen Rezabek are Registered Dietitians.\n\nLearning objectives include:\n\n\n\n 	Learn about the SNAP-Ed program and consider opportunities for partnerships.\n\n 	Gain a greater understanding of the unique nutrition education needs of people experiencing and recovering from substance use disorder and the role SNAP-Ed can play in providing responsive care.\n\n 	Discover how Learning Collaborative model is useful in strengthening staff skills and knowledge\n\n
