SUMMARY:Department of Anthropology Colloquium Mountain Archaeology around the Pacific Northwest, Robert R. Mierendorf
LOCATION:College Hall
DESCRIPTION:Research topics in:\n\nMountain Archaeology around the Pacific Northwest\n\nRobert R. Mierendorf\n\nNorth Cascades National Park, Retired\n\nI’ll review questions and problems inherent in doing archaeology in Pacific Northwest mountains and consider the vast but poorly researched reservoir of information that mountains preserve.  This PowerPoint-aided review employs photos and graphics collated from several decades of mountain field work in the Pacific Northwest.\n\nRobert Mierendorf was North Cascades National Park’s archaeologist from 1986 until his retirement in 2013. He maintains his interest in research and publishing, teaching and speaking about Pacific Northwest archeology, paleoecology and the long history of Salish peoples of the North Cascades. Skiing and hiking in the North Cascades, he continues his decades-long internship at UpRiver University where Momma Nature is the instructor.\n\nAll are welcome to attend!
