DESCRIPTION:PROGRAM\n\nThis program will feature piano sonatas by Beethoven and Liszt.\n\nBeethoven's sonata op. 2 no. 3, in four movements, is considered his first virtuosic sonata. Although in classical style, it presents pre-romantic characteristics (especially in the second movement), and its orchestral conception pushes the instrument toward its limits.\n\nLiszt composed only one piano sonata. Officially in one long movement, it contains all the movements typical of a piano sonata. Its uniqueness makes it a masterwork of piano literature, and it represents one of the highest achievements in the history of this form.
