SUMMARY:International Peace Educator Hosts Faculty Workshop

DESCRIPTION:International peace educator and certified nonviolence trainer Dr. Arthur Romano will be on campus, leading discussion and workshops to explore the critical role that meaningful dialogue can play in addressing issues of difference on campus.\n\nFaculty are invited to a workshop held:\n\n\n\n 	1-2:30 p.m. Oct. 9, Chinook 150 - WSU Faculty Workshop | Learning about Conflict in Higher Education Classrooms\n\n\n\nDr. Romano has implemented innovative educational programs in Africa, South America, Asia, Europe and the US. These programs have supported thousands of students in learning practical strategies for building healthy communities, becoming global leaders and productively engaging with conflict. He has spoken numerous times at the United Nations and has collaborated with the Department of Public Information to promote the Gandhi-King Season for Nonviolence and the International Day of Peace. He currently serves as a professor of conflict analysis and resolution at George Mason University.\n\nHe will host other events throughout the day, including a keynote address, “Civility and Difference: Sustaining Conversations that Matter on Campus,” at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, in the CUB Senior Ballroom.\n\nEvents are sponsored by the Student Entertainment Board, Office of the Provost and WSU Housing &amp; Residence Life.\n\nFor questions regarding events, email Student Involvement Associate Director Berto Cerrillo at berto.cerrillo@wsu.edu.\n\n&nbsp;
