DESCRIPTION:On September 25th celebrate Fall exhibitions at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU with a series of exceptional events. First, arrive at the museum at 12:00 pm for a curatorial tour touching upon the themes of our new exhibitions led by directors and curators Maryanna G. Ramirez and Ryan Hardesty. Then at 3:00 pm, join us in the CUB Auditorium for an artist lecture by Hock E Aye Vi Edgar Heap of Birds whose decades-long contributions to contemporary art and Indigenous cultural discourse should not be missed. The lecture will be followed by a special museum reception at 4:00 pm with live music, appetizers, and notable guests including Jordan Schnitzer. Ramirez and Ryan Hardesty\n\n12:00–1:00pm, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU\n\nSpirit Citizen: Provocative Native American Public Art and Studio Practice, Artist Lecture by Hock E Aye Vi Edgar Heap of Birds\n\n3:00–4:00pm, CUB Auditorium\n\nFall Exhibitions Reception\n\n4:00–6:00pm, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU\n\nEXHIBITIONS | Opening August 19, 2025, and on view through March 14, 2026, both exhibitions are curated from Jordan Schnitzer’s vast collections of art and examine the ways artists use color to delve into visual perception and thought-provoking ideas.\n\nAnish Kapoor: Dissolving Margins examines a four-decade-long printmaking practice, in which Kapoor’s graphic oeuvre evokes a sense of awe as we contemplate the hallucinatory qualities of heavily pigmented prints that appear to breathe, expand, and dissolve before our eyes. Kapoor explores organic and biological forms alongside an overarching metaphysical concern with expressions of presence and absence.\n\nColor Outside the Lines examines the ways artists have used color to question institutions, beliefs, and expectations showcasing artists Derrick Adams, Polly Apfelbaum, Antonius-Tín Bui, Iván Carmona, Lauren Hana Chai, Caitlin Cherry, Sam Gilliam, Hock E Aye Vi Edgar Heap of Birds, Ana María Hernando, Jenny Holzer, Salomón Huerta, Anish Kapoor, James Lavadour, Christopher Myers, Faith Ringgold, Isaka Shamsud-Din, Andy Warhol, and Stanley Whitney.\n\nLOCATION | The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU is located in the Crimson Cube (on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium and the CUB) on the WSU Pullman campus.
