DESCRIPTION:Music for Observations is a 3-part music series that pairs unusual electronic music with the Jewett Observatory’s open viewings of the night sky on July 13, August 10 and September 7 October 12 at 9pm. Music will happen outside on the surrounding hill. The events are free, all-ages and open to the public. Presented by the Digital Audio Collective and the WSU Department of Physics and Astronomy, with support from the David G. Pollart Center for Arts and Humanities.\n\nDress warmly! Public restrooms are currently not available on the premises. Events are subject to cancellation based on weather and air quality.\n\nFeaturing music by:\n\nJason E Anderson\n\nanalog modular synthesizer\n\nKahyun Uhm\n\nfield recordings / synthesizer\n\nPerformer bios:\n\nJason E Anderson is an electronic musician/sound artist living in rural Eastern WA. Since 2014, he has created/performed music under his own name and in performance art/film hybrid LIMITS with dancer Corrie Befort. Anderson generates musical spaces through live sound synthesis with analog circuits and analog/digital control systems. He is currently building a Serge synthesizer, improvising in a cattle shed, creating music for dance and film, and finding his way back to live performance. Anderson was actively involved in Seattle’s experimental music and performing arts communities until relocating in 2018. Notable projects from that time include his label Gift Tapes/DRAFT and many music projects: BNSF, Brother Raven, Spare Death Icon and MESH.\n\nKahyun Uhm is currently pursuing an MFA in the art department at Washington State University. She was born in S. Korea and immigrated to the U.S. when she was in her late 20s. As an undergraduate, her work emphasized audio recording, electronic music, and soundscape creation, along with a return to her childhood practice of classical piano. More recently, she is interested in exploring Asian immigrant experiences living in the U.S. through the use of analog and digital media, sound, and interactive technology.\n\nMore info: Music for Observations webpage\n\n
