DESCRIPTION:Speaker:  Roya Kashfi Sadabad\n\nGroup:  Dr. Anjali Sharma\n\nTitle: Designing Dendrimers and Lipid Nanoparticles Based Drug Delivery Systems.\n\nAbstract\n\nThe development of targeted drug delivery systems is getting innovative in how we treat diseases by delivering drugs directly to specific areas of the body, thereby reducing side effects and enhancing effectiveness. Among the promising vehicles for targeted drug delivery, dendrimers and liposomal structures have emerged as highly efficient carriers due to their unique structural and physiochemical properties. Dendrimers, which are highly branched, monodisperse polymers, offer a versatile platform for drug conjugation and encapsulation. Their multivalent surface functionalities allow precise control over drug release and targeting capabilities. Liposomal structures, on the other hand, made of fat-based molecules, are small carriers capable of delivering various types of drugs safely and efficiently. They are known for their compatibility with the body and relatively straightforward production. A promising advancement in drug delivery is the combination of dendrimers and liposomes to create hybrid nanoparticles. These hybrid systems combine the strengths of both carriers: dendrimers provide precise control over drug release, while liposomes offer excellent biocompatibility and non-invasive delivery. Together, they form a system that circulates effectively in the body and delivers drugs directly to the target, enhancing effectiveness and minimizing side effects. In this seminar, I will share my ongoing research on how dendrimers, lipid nanoparticles, and hybrid systems are designed and optimized for more effective drug delivery.
