DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of the documentary &quot;Paris is Burning,&quot; followed by a reception with dancer, speaker, and educator Cesar Valentino.\n\n&quot;Paris is Burning&quot; focuses on the African American and Latinx Harlem drag ball scene of the 1980s. Featuring legendary voguers, trans women and drag queens, it emphasizes a sense of community in a culture full of homophobia, transphobia, racism, AIDS, and poverty.\n\nCesar Valentino is a prominent vogue dancer who started in NYC in 1983. He will speak about the significance and influence of Vogue as a dance style and art form, along with his experiences with the gay rights movement.\n\nThis event is open to everyone.
