DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of the documentary "Paris is Burning," followed by a reception with dancer, speaker, and educator Cesar Valentino.\n\n"Paris is Burning" focuses on the African American and Latinx Harlem drag ball scene of the 1980s. Featuring legendary voguers, trans women and drag queens, it emphasizes a sense of community in a culture full of homophobia, transphobia, racism, AIDS, and poverty.\n\nCesar Valentino is a prominent vogue dancer who started in NYC in 1983. He will speak about the significance and influence of Vogue as a dance style and art form, along with his experiences with the gay rights movement.\n\nThis event is open to everyone.
