DESCRIPTION:The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites you to a colloquium featuring Benjamin Cromey, Sr. Optical Engineer at Ball Aerospace. Dr. Cromey’s talk, “Academic to Engineer: skills to work on now for a future in industry” will be held Thursday, February 22, at 12:10 pm inWebster 11.\n\nPlease meet our guest speaker and share in refreshments 11:45 a.m. -12:10 p.m. in the foyer on floor G above the lecture hall.\n\nZoom is available for those unable to attend in person.\n\nMany PhD students don&#039;t consider their exit plan when they enter graduate school. Often by\n\nthe time they realize they&#039;re interested in a career in industry, they may be about to\n\ngraduate and feel unprepared for an environment other than academia. Dr. Benjamin\n\nCromey will discuss how he planned for his career in industry throughout his PhD, and\n\ndiscuss practical advice on how any PhD student can do the same. He will do a broad\n\noverview of the skills he uses regularly, including some he wished he had worked on when\n\nhe was still a student himself!
