DESCRIPTION:Join us as President Schulz recognizes students, faculty, and staff who have taken extraordinary steps to keep the WSU community safe, healthy, and secure. \n\nThe awards ceremony and an exposition-style resource fair are part of the annual Safety, Health, and Security Fair. \n\nAwards ceremony\n\n11:30 a.m. \n\nStop by to see President Schulz present this year’s President’s Awards for Safety, Health, and Security. The event is free and open to the campus community.\n\nResource fair \n\n9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. \n\nRepresentatives from local organizations will showcase products and services and respond to questions. Officials from university departments and administrative units will also be on hand to share information about campus resources.\n\nFace masks are required at in-person events.\n\nFlash talks Wednesday through Friday\n\nMark your calendar for flash talks later this week, also part of the Safety, Health, and Security Fair. Experts from across the WSU system deliver practical information and connect you with a network of support in your campus community.\n\nYou’ll hear multiple short talks (roughly 10-15 minutes each) in the daily one-hour window from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Each day’s talks address a different theme:\n\nWellness Wednesday\n\nTopics to include:\n\n\n\n	Understanding, treating and preventing substance misuse\n\n	Sleep hygiene basics\n\n	Preventing sexually transmitted infections: The importance of using barrier methods\n\n	Stress management and self-care\n\n	Natural products: A safe bet?\n\nLife Essentials Thursday\n\nTopics to include:\n\n\n\n	Money-saving meals for everyone\n\n	Bike maintenance: The importance of the ABC quick safety check before a ride\n\n	Bystander intervention: Creating a safer campus and community\n\n	How to use a fire extinguisher\n\nFun Facts Friday\n\nTopics to include:\n\n\n\n	Updates on the treatment of Chlamydia\n\n	Safety considerations for field research\n\n	Healthy pets make healthy owners\n\n	Alcohol use disorder: Why is the gold standard treatment outcome shifting from complete abstinence to low-risk drinking?\n\nLinks for remote access to the Zoom sessions can be found on the event website. \n\nQuestions?\n\nFor more information, contact Sarah Mahaffy of University Events at sarah.mahaffy@wsu.edu.
