SUMMARY:Public Square – A day in the life of poverty
LOCATION:Compton Union Building
DESCRIPTION: \n\n\n\nIn America, nearly 60% of people will live in poverty at some point in their lives. With support available through non-profit organizations and government agencies, why is poverty such an extensive issue? Join us at the CCE Public Square for an eye-opening experience and discussion around the challenges of poverty. This interactive, hands-on event will get you thinking about how the challenges of poverty affect people. You can expect to be engaged the entire time so come prepared to participate and interact with your peers.\n\nService hours are allocated based on the amount of direct participation in the poverty simulation. Students can expect to receive 1.5 hours of service.\n\nThe CCE strives to sponsor activities that are accessible to all students. If you need accommodations to fully access the activities offered through the Center for Civic Engagement, please contact Ryan Lazo, Community Partnerships Coordinator, at 509-335-0687 or ryan.lazo@wsu.edu at least one week prior to the activity.\n\nStudents must pre-register for this event, as space is limited. If you do not pre-register, there may be a chance that you are not able to participate.
