DESCRIPTION:Presented by\n\nDr. Veronica Miller, Northrup-Grumman\n\nAbstract\n\nI’ve seen both triumphs and failures both equally spectacular during my time as an Engineer in Industry. I would like to discuss with you some advice and ways to live by from my own experience with the hope that you might avoid some of the pitfalls.You would be surprised at how much a little respect goes a long ways and that something as simple as practicing repeatable measurement technique is hard to come by (and can be what separates you from the rest). One of the most pivotal things I learned about my own approach is something a mentor taught me and that's to never underestimate the power of pen and paper. It's the basis of how/where things make sense, where you can check your work, and where you start to develop a solution or response. It's where you can provide a five minute answer that eventually turns into a longer answer, which turns into follow-up conversations and answers. In my experience good engineering always involves follow-up, or some may say, "No good deed goes unpunished." However, I choose to see the positive. This is where our passions flourish.
