DESCRIPTION:PROGRAM\n\nPROGRAM NOTES\n\nThe Solstice Wind Quintet will perform Francis Poulenc’s Sextet for wind quintet and piano with WSU School of Music piano faculty, Fabio Menchetti. This major work from the wind chamber music repertoire is one of its most well-known and beloved. Amanda Harberg’s exciting Suite for Wind Quintet has become a recent addition to the repertoire, and is quickly gaining popularity. The program will also include a relatively new quintet by Kansas City-based composer Lee Hartman. The program features composers of the twentieth and twenty-first century while highlighting the diversity of sound in the repertoire. Members of the Solstice Wind Quintet include Sophia Tegart, flute; Keri E. McCarthy, oboe; Shannon Scott, clarinet; Jacqueline Wilson, bassoon; and Martin King, horn.
