LOCATION:Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, 1535 Wilson Rd, Pullman, WA 99164
DESCRIPTION:COMMUNITY PERSPECTIVES TALK: The Making of Unearthed and Other Works:\n\nA Conversation with Jonathan Follett of the Walla Walla Foundry\n\nOctober 30, 2026, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU\n\nWhat does it take to transform an uprooted tree stump into a monumental bronze sculpture? Join Jonathan Follett, President of the Walla Walla Foundry, for a Community Perspectives Talk offering a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Unearthed (a work in progress) by artist Jim Hodges.\n\nCast at the Walla Walla Foundry in 2019, Unearthed represents a fascinating story of artistry, craftsmanship, and collaboration. Follett will share insights into the creation of the work and highlight other notable projects produced by the foundry over the past decade, offering a glimpse into the people, processes, and technology behind some of today’s ambitious contemporary artworks. The Walla Walla Foundry has grown from a regional bronze foundry into one of the world’s leading contemporary art fabricators. Unearthed is currently on view in the Pavilion Gallery through June 26, 2027.\n\nThis program is part of the museum’s Community Perspectives Talks & Tours, which invite members of the campus and wider community to share personal interpretations of works in the museum’s exhibitions and explore connections among art, experience, and different fields of knowledge.
