DESCRIPTION:Join artist Jose ‘Nuke’ Montalvo in a celebration of Latinx heritage through art. Food and music performances will be followed by a lecture from the artist and painting workshop. A few attendees will be selected to participate in a community painting. The event is open to WSU Pullman and Global participants.\n\nAbout the Artist\n\nJose ‘Nuke’ Montalvo, who is based in Los Angeles, created murals in 2000 for the Chicana/o Latina/o Student Alliance (ChiLaStAl), originally hung in Wilson-Short Hall. The murals were moved to the CUB in 2017, where they are now part of the Chicanx/Latinx Student Center.\n\nMuralist Montalvo is visiting campus to complete conservation and preservation work on the murals and to offer an artist’s talk from 1-2 p.m. on September 29 in the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.
