DESCRIPTION:CONCERT PROGRAM\n\nWSU School of Music is coming to Spokane! Founded in 1901, the school has a long tradition of excellence and they are excited to bring four of their ensembles to the city for a concert at the Fox Theatre. This showcase concert will occur on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:30 PM and feature the following ensembles and their directors: WSU Concert Choir with Dr. Lori Wiest, Jazz Big Band I with Dr. Greg Yasinitsky, Symphony Orchestra with Dr. Danh Pham, and Opera Workshop with Dr. Julie Anne Wieck. Emceed by KHQ’s Blake Jensen, the evening will surely be a night to remember.\n\nHighlights will include the performance of William Averitt’s “Whisper of the Dance” by Concert Choir, joined by piano faculty, Dr. Yoon-Wha Roh and graduate student Joel Lininger. The Symphony Orchestra will perform Gershwin’s An American in Paris as well as selections from Lucy Simon’s musical The Secret Garden, in collaboration with Opera Workshop. The Jazz Big Band will present a program which includes Yasinitsky’s “After Charlie,” in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Parker’s birth, in an arrangement written especially for the Jazz Education Network All Stars Big Band, and Yasinitsky’s “Best of Friends” commissioned by the Stanford University Jazz Band.\n\nTicket Information:\n\nTickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors.
