Fine Arts Exhibit Opening: John Friel

Washington State University Department of Fine Arts would like to invite you to attend the opening of the John Friel Exhibit in the Fine Arts Gallery II on July 15, 2016 between 2-4 p.m. Light refreshments will be available. The exhibit, available July 15-August 12, will feature 5 of John Friel’s large-scale works: 2 from the College of Arts and Sciences Collection and 3 on loan from the Museum of Art Collection.
John Friel (1938-1971) was a Pullman native, graduating from Pullman High School and receiving the Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Washington State University in 1962. Following employment as a graphic designer in WSU’s publications office, he studied at the Brooklyn Museum Art School, and lived as an artist in New York, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. His paintings appear in several collections in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago and have been featured in businesses including the CBS building in New York City.
