In the fourth annual Sherman and Mabel Smith Pettyjohn Memorial Lecture in history, Dr. Holly Miowak Guise (Iñupiaq) will give a lecture about her book entitled Alaska Native Resilience: Voices from World War II. Centering oral histories with over 90+ elders, this book talk covers Alaska history from the perspectives of Alaska Native nations. Native people had diverse experiences ranging from relocation, forced labor, Native military service, segregation, and violence against Native women.
