About the event

Recognizing a faculty member’s exemplary achievement

“Flying Towards Recovery: Butterfly Success Stories in an Era of Insect Decline”

The annual Distinguished Faculty Address honors a faculty member who has risen to the front ranks of his or her discipline through achievements in research, scholarship, and teaching.

This year’s honoree is Cheryl Schultz, Ph.D. (Professor in the School of Biological Sciences).

Professor Schultz is a conservation biologist and has dedicated her career to mentoring students and developing an understanding of at-risk species to advance conservation within the context of a human-dominated landscape.  In an era filled with stories about global collapse of insect populations, Dr. Schultz will share stories of using science to build partnerships and recover butterfly populations.
