Annual 5K Rabies Run – 2026
About the event
Join us for the WSU Student American Veterinary Medical Association’s (SAVMA) Annual 5K Rabies Run, a fundraiser and “zombie run.”
The spooky season is almost upon us. You know what that means? Time to RUN!!! And sign up for the 2026 SAVMA 5K Rabies Run/Walk!
WHO
Anyone! Bring your friends, family, and kids! But for the safety of the volunteers, zombies, and other runners, no animals are allowed at the event.
WHY
This 5K run event highlights the significant impact of lifesaving veterinary care. This year, all proceeds raised from the run will go directly to WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s Good Samaritan Fund. WSU veterinary students founded the Good Samaritan Fund in the 1990s to help animals in need of special care whose owners cannot afford treatment. What to expect
The 5K Rabies Run features a one mile “zombie loop” where vet students and volunteers dressed as zombies will try to steal your flags! Runners who enter the loop can wear a capture-the-flag belt and must dodge zombies to keep as many “lives” as possible. Each flag you bring back to the registration desk earns tickets for a gift basket drawing. Extra tickets are also awarded for costumes, so dress up and join us for a spooky, fun event for the WSU and Pullman community! The grand prize, sponsored by Terracotta, will be awarded to the first-place male, female, and non-binary runner. Each winner will receive one class for themselves and a guest of their choice at Terracotta!
Check-in at 9:30 a.m. Run/Walk begins at 10:00 a.m.

Registration and Purchase Options
- Registration + T-Shirt: $25. Order your t-shirt with your preferred size. Fill out and submit the registration form. Pick up shirts at check-in or have them delivered to your preferred address.
- Registration ONLY: $20. Select the “Donation-only” option on Custom Ink for $20. Fill out and submit the registration form.
- Volunteering to be a zombie? $10 discounted T-Shirt. Please contact Melanie Barrall. Select the “Donation-only” button for $10. Fill out and submit the registration form. Your shirt will be ordered separately.
- Can’t join for the run? You can still help! Order a shirt and have it shipped directly to you to support the cause!
