About the event

Join us on September 26 from 3:00 to 6:30 pm to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Washington State University! Enjoy live music, delicious appetizers, and an exciting lineup of events that reflect our museum’s rich history and vibrant future.

We’re kicking off the festivities with a printmaking activity on Terrell Mall at 3:00 pm, led by our Curator of Education & Programs, Kristin Becker.

The reception begins at 4:00 pm with the release of a commemorative publication, “Reflecting 50 Years” from WSU Press, alongside the exhibition Your Collection: Celebrating 50 Years. This special collection-based exhibition pays tribute to our journey from the Museum of Art/WSU to our transformation into the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy the exhibition The Art of Food, featuring prominent artists’ depictions of food, showcasing over 100 works from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation. Join us in the Pavilion Gallery from 5:00 to 6:30 pm for a live performance by Darryl Singleton and Crimson Ties, adding a festive touch to the evening. Special guests include past museum directors, staff, and supporters, including Jordan Schnitzer himself.

Located in the Crimson Cube on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium and the CUB, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU is ready to welcome you to this milestone event. Be a part of our legacy and help us toast 50 years of art, community, and inspiration!
