Film Screening

“Fruitvale Station” – Investigating the Criminal Justice System Film Series

About the event

This spring WSU Diversity Education is organizing a film series that critically examines the criminal justice system. Our second film will be a screening of the critically acclaimed film Fruitvale Station” which follows the true story of Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old Bay Area resident who is shot and killed by a BART officer at the Fruitvale subway stop on New Year’s Day. Oscar Grant’s tragic death shook  the Bay Area – and the entire nation – to its very core. Please join us for this film and a critical conversation about systemic racism, the criminalization of poverty, and the US justice system.
