Guest Recital: Thursday, October 17th at 7:30 pm in Bryan Hall Theatre

This concert is open to the public and without charge.

Internationally renowned operatic baritone, Kurt Ollmann will present a guest recital, accompanied by Elena Panchenko, featuring music by Schubert, Duparc, Nin, Ives, and Hundley, culminating in a set of American folksongs. He has established a wide-ranging international career in recital, concert and opera. Kurt Ollmann first came to prominence singing Riff on the Deutsche Grammophon recording of West Side Story under Leonard Bernstein and later performed on the Grammy Award-winning recording of Candide. Mr. Ollmann was one of the original performers of The Aids Quilt Songbook. Besides the recital, he will also be presenting a masterclass, working with WSU singers on Friday, October 18 from 1 – 3:00 p.m in Bryan Hall Theatre, followed by a panel discussion, entitled “Creating Affirming Spaces in Music” at 4:00 in Kimbrough 115. He will be joined by WSU faculty Dr. Aaron Agulay and Dr. Chris Dickey, moderated by Matthew Jeffries, Director of GIESORC.
