About the event
How to talk about racism 101: a crash course/Born a Crime is an introductory course in having courageous conversations about racism, politics and social justice in today’s America. In this workshop we unpack the definitions of racism and how to spot the systems where racism is hardest at work, we discuss impact and intention and why there is still actually room for grace and compassion with those we vehemently disagree with. We also cover when to call-in, call-out, and when to cancel. Finally, we open up the floor to use Trevor Noah’s Bestseller Born a Crime as a catalyst to open the floor up for class discussion around the presentation and the book.
