The 2020 MLK Community Celebration will feature a keynote address from W. Kamau Bell, a sociopolitical comedian and host of the Emmy Award-winning CNN docu-series United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell. Bell will perform his one-man show, “The W. Kamau Bell Curve: Ending Racism in About an Hour.” The “Curve” is a comedic, topical exploration of the current state of America’s racism, combined with a little (unknown) history, a little PowerPoint, and a whole bunch of Kamau. It is a seamless mix of stand-up comedy, video and audio clips, personal stories, knowledge dropping, and solo theatrical performance. Learn more about W. Kamau Bell.

The event will also include the presentation of the WSU Distinguished Service Awards and multiple student musical and poetry performances. This event is free and open to the public.

The MLK Community Celebration can also be live streamed at this link. To access the stream, click the ‘play’ button for the event and enter your WSU credentials.

The 2020 MLK Community Celebration is part of WSU’s annual MLK Program, a weeklong celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and legacy. Learn more about the MLK Program.
