About the event

Join us Friday, October 25 from 12:00-1:00 pm for “Savoring Spokane: Exploring Its Iconic Eateries” with Author Adriana Janovich!

What makes a restaurant stand out from the rest? And how do you capture its essence in 400 words or fewer? Adriana Janovich, author of “Unique Eats and Eateries of Spokane: The People and Stories Behind the Food” (Reedy Press, 2024), discusses her process for researching Spokane restaurants from A to Zip’s Drive-In—and the people and stories behind them—for her new book. A longtime newspaper writer, Janovich served as the food editor at the Spokane Spokesman-Review from 2013 to 2019 before coming to Washington State University as the associate editor at Washington State Magazine. BookPeople of Moscow will be selling copies of the book, and visitors may reserve a copy ahead of time via the BookPeople website. This talk is free and open to the public, with donations welcome.

COMMON READING SERIES | The 2024-25 Common Reading Series at the museum is a collaboration between the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU and the WSU Common Reading Program. Talks in the series will address a wide variety of food-related topics to deepen our community’s understanding of this year’s common read, “How the Other Half Eats” by Priya Fielding-Singh, and The Art of Food: From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation exhibition, on view at the museum through March 8, 2025.

LOCATION | The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU is located in the Crimson Cube (on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium and the CUB) on the WSU Pullman campus.
