Recent years have seen references to “fake news” and bias in news coverage. How should the media cover the election, and what would happen if the election day results are not clear?

Kathleen Searles is associate professor in both the Manship School of Mass Communication and the Department of Political Science at Louisiana State University.

Travis Ridout is Thomas S. Foley Distinguished Professor of Government and Public Policy, and director of the School of Politics, Philosophy and Public Affairs at Washington State University.
