“Unearthed” Reading with Local Poets
About the event
“Unearthed” Reading with Local Poets
Organized by Colin Criss, Assistant Professor, Honors College
Tuesday, November 17, 2026 | 6–7 p.m.
Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU
Join us at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU for an evening of poetry inspired by artist Jim Hodges’ Unearthed (a work in progress), a monumental bronze sculpture cast from an uprooted tree stump. Both majestic and elegiac, the sculpture invites reflection on our relationship with nature and the lasting impact of human activity on the natural world.
On Tuesday, November 17, local writers gather to share original words and perspectives in response to the sculpture, offering new ways to experience this remarkable work. The reading is led by poet Colin Criss, assistant professor in the WSU Honors College, and features Alexandra Teague, Michael McGriff, Devin Becker, Emma Perry, Cameron McGill, Linda Russo, Miriam Åkervall, and Tod Marshall.
Free and open to the public.
LOCATION | The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU is located in the Crimson Cube (on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium and the CUB) on the WSU Pullman campus.
