About the event
WSU’s annual Vocal Extravaganza will take place on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 7:30 pm in Bryan Hall Theatre. The event features the campus’s four vocal ensembles. Selected scenes from Jacques Offenbach’s operetta Orpheus in the Underworld will be performed by the students in Opera Workshop, under the direction of Dr. Julie Anne Wieck. The choral ensembles, conducted by Dr. Matthew Myers, will perform music about nighttime, stars, and rest. University Singers will perform pieces by Agathe Backer Grøndahl, Sarah Quartel, and Jacob Narverud; Treble Choir will sing music by B. E. Boykin, Joan Szymko, and Susan LaBarr; Concert Choir will perform works by Josef Rheinberger, Moses Hogan, Chen Yi, Eric Whitacre, and much more. All four groups will be accompanied by Elena Panchenko. The Vocal Extravaganza is free of charge and open to the public.
