About the event

Women in Recreation Month at the SRC will host its third in-house Women’s Only Deadlift Competition. Show up, sign in and weigh in between and 5:00-5:45 p.m. in the SRC Weight Room (functional area). At 5:45 p.m., there will be a debrief of the rules. At 6:00 p.m., participants will be given 15 minutes to warm up. During those 15 minutes, each participant must also give the judges their openers (first weight attempt). This will determine the order in which the participants lift. This order will remain constant throughout the competition.

Participants will be allowed 3 attempts in total. If they do not successfully lift a weight they are not allowed to decrease, so planning strategically is recommended. On an attempt, the participant will be alerted when they are allowed to approach the bar. From that moment they will have a few moments to set up and actually attempt the lift. Once they stand up, they must wait for the “down” command from the head judge to lower the bar, and from there they will be notified if the lift was successful or not. After the attempt the lifter must go to the scorer’s table to submit the weight, they will attempt next. After every lifter has gone through their 3 attempts the highest weight each person successfully lifted will be used.

As there are no weight classes for this competition the Wilk’s formula (strength relative to body weight) will be used to identify the winner. The individual with the highest Wilk’s score will earn our Women’s Only Deadlift Competition trophy!
