Admission: $5 for pre-registration, $10 on-site registration

The WSU Flute Day is open to all flutists interested in advancing their flute skills. The event will include sessions on Tone & Vibrato, Technique, Flute Basics, an Orchestral Excerpts Masterclass, Guest Master Class and Recital, and more! Participants will also have the option to read flute choir music and perform in the lobby concert before the Guest Artist Recital! The Guest Artist Recital is free and open to the public. The concert begins at 5:00pm in Kimbrough Concert Hall.

Our guest artist this year is Dr. Nora Lee García, Professor of Flute at the University of Central Florida. As a Powell Flutes artist Garcia has performed throughout Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean as solo recitalist, chamber musician and soloist with orchestra. Nora Lee has been featured as a guest artist in Carnegie Hall, Heinz Hall, Steinmetz Hall and at flute festivals such as the French Flute Convention, III Convención AFE Sevilla, Festival Internacional de Flauta Monterrey, Chile Flute Festival, Puerto Rico Flute Symposium as well as numerous National Flute Association conventions. A native from San Juan Puerto Rico, Nora Lee graduated from the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico. In the United States, she earned a Master of Music from Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music in New York and Doctorate from the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, Florida. An active recording artist, Nora Lee recently won the Global Music Awards two Silver Medals for Outstanding Achievement Category: Duo and Instrumentalist for her recent recording CUBATINA.
