The widespread enthusiasm for mass timber is evident, and for good reason. Companies are pivoting to mass timber to reduce their carbon footprint, provide biophilic benefits to the building occupants, increase the speed of construction, reduce onsite labor and frankly just to create beautiful architecture.

Steve Austin is a faculty member in the School of Design and Construction who has researched and lectured on the connection between design, construction and climate issues for over 15 years. His professional experience includes work as an award-winning city and regional planner, urban designer, land use attorney, community organizer and university professor. Steve currently teaches landscape architecture, urban planning, and construction law at Washington State University in Pullman which is a topic he will cover in this lecture.
