Harnessing your environmental data: Data Carpentry workshop

About the event

As access to environmental data rapidly expands, many environmental researchers find that a great deal of their time is spent in “data wrangling” – managing and preparing data for analysis – taking time away from analyzing, modeling, and other scientific activities. To  improve efficiency in data handling, whether working with big or small data sets, a two-day Data Carpentry workshop.

Data Carpentry workshops are for any researcher, including graduate students, post-docs, technicians and faculty, who would like to learn how to manage and analyze data more efficiently.  This hands-on workshop teaches basic programming concepts, skills and tools for working with data. The instructors will cover data organization in spreadsheets, data cleaning, SQL, and R for data analysis and visualization.

The workshop is sponsored by the Center for Environmental Research, Education and Outreach (CEREO), which also can provide some travel support for WSU environmental researchers outside of Pullman.
