About the event

Title: Modeling and Simulation for Analysis

Speaker: Bronwyn Jackson

Speaker Bio:

Bronwyn Jackson is an Associate Technical Fellow at the Boeing Company.  She is the Simulation Domain Lead on the Boeing Global Services (BGS) Analytics team; she is also the Boeing Commercial Aviation (BCA) and BGS lead for Alliance, a Boeing open source simulation project.  She joined Boeing in 1998 as a systems engineer. She worked for Boeing Defense Systems until 2014 where her tasking ranged from experimental design and performance analysis to simulation test pilot. She holds a B.A. in Mathematics and Classics from Wellesley College (1996), and an M.S. in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia (1998).

Abstract:

Boeing’s products are made of many small pieces and parts, each part has an effect on the integrated product and the complete airspace system of systems.  It is generally straightforward to understand the impacts of design changes on the part itself, but it can be tricky to describe the cascading effects of part changes on the system as a whole and on the operating environment.  This presentation introduces large scale simulations.  We describe the ways they can be used to evaluate product performance in the early stages of development when problems are easy to correct.
