About the event

As a part of the National Day of Racial Healing 2024, Cameron McGill, Colin Criss, and additional creative writing faculty will lead an ekphrastic writing workshop in response to current museum exhibitions. An ekphrastic poem (from ekphrasis, Greek for “description”) imaginatively engages with, responds to, or reflects upon a work of art. Current exhibitions include Jeffrey Gibson: They Teach Love, From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation and Here in a Homemade Forest: Common Reading Connections. The workshop will begin with a mindfulness session with Trymaine Gaither.

NOTE: Participants will have the option to share their writing later in the day in the museum’s Pavilion Gallery at Writers Give Voice: Reading and Open Mic.
