About the event

This workshop is to access the systemic parallels to immigration to illustrate how the public safety narrative has influenced American politics, media, and people. We will talk about the parallels to incarceration, climate change, and the military. The objective is to look at our values and connect them to how we re-imagine a society without borders and cages.

About our guest:

Victoria Matey is a 28-year-old creator of ideas, audio digital productions, and more. In her early 20s she daydreamed through Business school trying to understand her role in the world as a first-generation queer undocumented woman. Through her journey, she has found a deep passion for working with people and educating folks at large about immigration topics given her background in Student Affairs, Event Planning, and Public Speaking.

Currently, Victoria is hosting workshops across the nation in partnership with institutions and organizations to unpack systematic and parallel issues to immigration. She has worked with over a dozen organizations, presented at 30+ conferences, and reached the lives of people all over the world with her work.
