Health promoters have realized that simply telling people to exercise more has been ineffective. But we can build communities where functional physical activities such as walking, bicycling, and transit use “stick” and become a more routine part of daily life. The good news is the very things we do to encourage healthier lifestyles also create more environmentally sustainable and functional settings, as well as more vibrant local economies.

Mark Fenton, a nationally recognized public health, planning, and transportation consultant will be discussing active transportation and the associated benefits at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, April 18, in Chinook 150. For more information go to, https://sustainability.wsu.edu/mark-fenton/.
