About the event

WSU faculty, staff, graduate students and others who work with health-disparity populations are invited to a free workshop to support health and well-being in our region and beyond.

“Building Academic–Community Partnerships to Promote Health Equity Research and Interventions” will be held in the Compton Union Building Junior Ballroom. Lunch will be provided.

Representatives from several community organizations and WSU faculty will discuss ways to remove barriers to collaboration among communities, health professionals and academic researchers.

Participants will learn how health care providers, community groups, researchers and government agencies can work together to promote health resilience and decrease health risks associated with poverty, discrimination and poor access to healthcare. They also will learn effective interventions to enable healthy living in disadvantaged populations.

Progress of seed grant-funded projects from the first Community Partnership Workshop held in April will be presented.

Find out more and register online by Sept. 10 at https://orap.wsu.edu/event/building-academic-community-partnerships/ .

The workshop is sponsored by the Health Equity Research Center (HERC), a WSU Grand Challenges initiative. It is organized by WSU Office of Research Advancement and Partnerships.

HERC involves faculty from multiple colleges who have an interest in understanding the factors that promote health resilience and decrease health risks associated with poverty, discrimination and poor access to healthcare.
