Native Identity: Can it include Education?

About the event

The Mestizo Center is pleased to hold the workshop “Native Identity: Can it include Education?” on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 2:30 p.m. in Cleveland Hall 121 (next to the math lab).

The workshop is offered by Phill  Allen. Phill is a teaching assistant in the College of Education at WSU. He is also a Ph.D. student in the Cultural Studies and Social Thought in Education program.

Phill will guide us through an insightful conversation about how education, racism, and ethics influence teaching practices. This presentation will guide participants in order to have a critical dialogue within the current political climate. Phill Allen’s expertise in education and work with tribal communities will allow us to have a clearer perspective of the possibilities to make of education a culturally responsive practice.

This workshop is offered as part of the “Under the Skin” – Fall Series.
