In November 1918, a few days before the Armistice, Edouard Péricourt saves Albert Maillard’s life. The two men have nothing in common but the war. On the ruins of the carnage of WWI, condemned to live, the two soldiers – a disfigured but brilliant artist and an ex-accountant – attempt to survive. They connive to mount a monumental scam exploiting bereaved families and communities seeking to properly commemorate their fallen heroes. But in the France of the Roaring Twenties, their adventures soon turn dangerous.
