Meet for the guest speaker before the lecture at 3:45 – 4:10 p.m. in the foyer on floor G above the lecture hall.

Abstract: I will present the history of the German nuclear program during World War II in parallel to the corresponding American program, and will explain the reasons why the German efforts failed so badly. I will also elaborate on the aftermath as given by the Alsos mission and the detainment of leading German nuclear scientists in Farm Hall, Cambridge, England, where their conversation were secretly taped.
