About the event

The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites all to a colloquium featuring Dr. Marty Ytreberg, Department of Physics at University of Idaho. Dr. Ytreberg will present their talk, “Using Molecular Modeling to Study Protein Structure, Function, and Evolution”.

Abstract: A central theme in the Ytreberg lab is how to use molecular modeling to understand proteins, and to leverage this understanding to benefit human health. Most of our research is done in close collaboration with other scientists who perform experiments on viral and cellular systems. In this presentation, I will give several examples of projects where we use the tools of computational biophysics: the implications of molecular evolution on rainbow trout, the discovery of therapeutic drugs, and how viral evolution may impact our ability to treat infection.
