About the event

Physics & Astronomy at WSU celebrates 100 Years of Education, Discovery, and Innovation with Distinguished Colloquium speaker Yogendra Gupta, Regents professor of physics, Creighton distinguished professor, and director of the Institute for Shock Physics, a Department of Energy/NNSA “Center of Excellence” and multi-disciplinary research organization focused largely on understanding materials at extreme conditions. Dr. Gupta will talk about the work of shock physics pioneer George Duvall (WSU 1964-88), whose seminal work in dynamic compression science propelled the University to world prominence in the field. Dr. Gupta will also talk about his own work, innovations, and discoveries in shock wave and high pressure research .

Physics & Astronomy anniversary events planned throughout AY 2019-20 feature prominent speakers on a wide range of topics in physics and astronomy.
