SDC Lecture “The Ethical and Existential Meaning of Beauty,” by Juhani Pallasmaa
About the event
SDC Lecture Committee is privileged to invite you to “The Ethical and Existential Meaning of Beauty,” a virtual lecture by Juhani Pallasmaa.
Juhani Pallasmaa is one of world’s most respected architect-philosophers, with many architectural projects around the globe, more than 70 authored and/or edited books, 950 published essays, articles, and prefaces, translated into 37 languages. He is the former professor of architecture and dean at the Helsinki University of Technology, and former Director of the Museum of Finnish Architecture.
“The perspectives of my writings,” Pallasmaa suggests, “arise from interactions between different fields of art and scholarly research from phenomenological philosophy to psychology, science, neuroscience, and psychoanalytic interpretations of artistic phenomena. My recent interests have centered on unfocused peripheral perception, uncertainty and artistic atmospheres, attunements and feelings as well as empathic imagination.”
Registration is required.
