About the event

John Streamas—Associate Professor in the School of Languages, Cultures, and Race presenting: “Dis-Integration: A Futureless History of Nuclear Families of Color”

Sue Peabody—Meyer Distinguished Professor of History and Liberal Arts in the Department of History, Vancouver presenting: “Microhistory: Reconstituting Slavery, Family, and Freedom”

The School of Languages, Cultures, and Race (SLCR) developed this lecture series seeking to connect faculty in SLCR with faculty in other academic units at WSU who are doing research on similar topics but from their respective disciplines in order to highlight scholarly connections and research convergences. It is a way of showing that you can (and should) look at a “problem/issue/idea” from different angles in order to get a better, more complete understanding of the problem/issue/idea. The lecture series is premised on interdisciplinarity (or transdisciplinarity) and on transdisciplinary exchanges, cooperation, and collaboration.
